Basic French Dressing Recipe

8a62537b5a9f607cad8de36e34ea5bc9This is a simple, basic recipe for French Salad Dressing. It comes from a book called, Ekco Prudential Cookbook – Nutritious Cooking, the Waterless Way.  The book was published in 1960 – 1964, a time when most everything was made from scratch. I like that – knowing what makes food tick and being able to customize it with ingredients we prefer and like. I know now a days we are so busy but who doesn’t have time for this simple recipe – minus ALL of the preservatives and weird stuff they throw into the store bought stuff. Right?

1/2 cup of Oil (Use whatever kind you like. Vegetable, Canola, Olive—up to you.)

1/2 cup of Sugar

1/4 teaspoon of Paprika

1/2 cup of Vinegar

1/2 cup Catsup

1/2 teaspoon salt

Real simple. Add it all to a Jar (pint size or whatever you have) and shake, shake, shake. The recipe makes 2 cups.
